St. Thérèse of Lisieux: The Mission of the Little Way

St. Thérèse, the “Little Flower,” entered the Carmelite convent at fifteen and died at twenty-four, yet her mission continues to inspire millions. Her “Little Way” — doing small things with great love — reveals that holiness is found not in grand gestures, but in quiet faithfulness.

Thérèse wrote, “My vocation is love.” In her simplicity, she became a missionary to the whole world, though she never left her convent. Her prayers and sacrifices were her mission field. Declared a Doctor of the Church, she reminds us that love gives meaning to every act, however small.

In May, as nature blossoms, we are called to blossom spiritually — by offering each day’s smallest acts as gifts to God. Thérèse’s mission invites us to see that even the unnoticed life, when filled with love, transforms the world.
