St. Catherine of Siena: The Mission of Truth and Courage

Born in 1347, St. Catherine of Siena was a mystic and reformer whose bold faith influenced popes and healed divisions in the Church. Though she lived in a turbulent time, she never shied from proclaiming truth with charity.

Her letters, filled with both fire and tenderness, called the Church back to holiness. Catherine’s courage came from prayer; she spent countless hours in communion with Christ, drawing strength from His love. She said, “Be who God meant you to be, and you will set the world on fire.”

April’s Easter season reminds us that truth and love belong together. Catherine teaches that every Christian is called to mission — to speak truth with humility, and to let Christ’s fire burn away fear.
